Three group companies of NOK Corporation that operate in the Kitaibaraki area—NOK Kita-Kanto Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kitaibaraki, Ibaraki; President: Takuya Yoshino), Unimatec Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hiroaki Kikuchi), and NOK Klüber Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Ichiro Yamane)—participated for the first time in the "Ayu Fry Release Experience Activity" (organized by the Daikita River Fisheries Cooperative) held on the Daikita River in Kitaibaraki City on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. On the day, eight employees from the three group companies released 30kg of ayu fry together with local elementary school students. The NOK Group promotes coexistence with local communities and the conservation of biodiversity to realize a sustainable society in the regions where it operates. The three companies participated to support the protection of Kitaibaraki City's rich waterfront environment and to provide opportunities for local children to experience nature firsthand. The group remains committed to maintaining the region's natural environment and engaging in environmental education for the next generation. The Daikita River is the longest second-class river in the northern coastal region of Ibaraki Prefecture (approx. 22km long), originating from Mt. Sankomuro (870m) in Hitachiota City and flowing through Kitaibaraki City into the Pacific Ocean. It is a clear stream with a rich ecosystem, home to yamame and char in the upper reaches and known as a prime fishing spot for ayu in the lower reaches. Ayu fishing is permitted from June 1st every year, attracting many anglers. In addition to natural ayu migrating from the Pacific, continuous release of fry helps preserve the environment where ayu thrive. Event Overview: Date: May 20, 2026, 13:00-; Location: Near Ipponbashi, Daikita River; Organizer: Daikita River Fisheries Cooperative; Participants: 8 NOK Group employees, 15 students from Ishioka Elementary School; Release: 30kg of ayu fry.
