The second episode (#2) of BS Yoshimoto's special program "Build! Time of Construction Craftsmen" will be broadcast on Sunday, March 29th at 19:00. This program is a "construction variety show" that closely follows the craftsmen who support the construction industry, and amusingly introduces their skills and passionate dedication to their work.

This time, Nagi Na-shu, who has experience in the construction industry, and Berryz Berry Otsubo, a comedian living in Tochigi Prefecture, go undercover at Yachiyo Co., Ltd. in Tochigi Prefecture. They meet a "craftsman who guides the site with data."

What is the Digital Evolution of the Construction Industry!?

The first site the two visit is a flood damage mitigation construction site for the Tagawa River, which flows through Tochigi Prefecture. The Tagawa River overflowed due to Typhoon No. 19 in 2019, and large-scale construction is currently underway to mitigate flood damage.

At this site, the two are welcomed by Tomohiro Ishikawa, president of Yachiyo Co., Ltd. He supports the construction by collecting site data with drones and utilizing the cutting-edge technology "ICT 3D Design."

Ishikawa says, "80% of my work is desk work." Nagi, surprised, remarks, "When I was in the construction industry, we didn't use data," and "Your work clothes are also so clean."

The Craftsman's Challenge Moves Nagi

To learn more about "ICT 3D Design," Nagi and Otsubo accompany Ishikawa to the Yachiyo Co., Ltd. office. There, they speak with Kazuaki Shiba, a craftsman specializing in 3D data creation, about how they actually create 3D data and utilize it at construction sites.

A characteristic of this program is that it not only focuses on technology but also delves into the craftsmen's "passion for their work." Nagi learns about Shiba's background and the hardships and determination behind his decision to work in the construction industry. Moved by his passionate words, Nagi is seen with tears welling up in her eyes, saying, "I almost cried listening to you..."

The construction site transformed by data. And the passionate spirit of the craftsmen tackling these challenges— Please be sure to watch this front-line view of the construction industry, rarely seen.
