The Shonan International Marathon Executive Committee will host the 'Shonan International Relay Marathon 2026' from Monday, September 21 to Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
The venue will be the Hiratsuka City General Park, which features a nature-rich environment and an easy-to-run circuit course.
In addition to the 24-hour, 12-hour, 6-hour, and 4-hour relay and solo categories, the event will also feature the 'ROAD to SHONAN 10km', which can be utilized as training for the main Shonan International Marathon, as well as a Family Run and a Kids Run that parents and children can enjoy.
Time spent running while passing a sash with friends, time facing one's own goals, time running the same course with family. It is a two-day event where participants can enjoy running in their own individual styles.
Entries are scheduled to open at 18:00 on Friday, June 19, 2026.
What Kind of Event is a 'Relay Marathon'?
A relay marathon is a running event where teams compete for distance covered within a set time while passing a sash.
The running order and timing of substitutions are free for each team to decide. One of the appeals is that participants can join at their own pace, not just focusing on speed.
Cheer on friends along the course, and pass the sash to the next runner after finishing your leg. Participants can enjoy not only the competition but also the fun of sharing time as a team.
Main Event: An Emotional 24-Hour Relay Connecting the Sash
The 24-hour relay, synonymous with the 'Shonan International Relay Marathon'!
From the bustle of the day to the quiet of the night, and then to the light of the morning. Over the long span of 24 hours, team members continue to run, taking turns. Each lap accumulated through cooperation with friends remains as the final record.
### 24-Hour Team Category
The ultimate relay where teams take turns to run through 24 hours.
The quiet of the late night, the crisp morning air, and the emotion of crossing the finish line together will all become lifelong memories.
Diverse Categories to Choose from Depending on Time and Style
For those who feel '24 hours is too high a hurdle to start with,' rest assured.
We have prepared categories tailored for teams and individuals!
### Team Categories [24 hours/12 hours/6 hours/4 hours]
Cheer on your running friends, and when they finish, it's your turn on the course.
Because it is a circuit course, you can progress through the competition while repeatedly calling out to each other—a unique appeal of the relay marathon.
### Solo Categories [24 hours/12 hours/6 hours/4 hours]
Solo categories are available for those who want to continue running at their own pace.
You can participate for various purposes, such as aiming for a personal best, challenging a long-distance run, or practicing for an ultramarathon.
### Fun for Parents and Children! Family & Kids Run
Family Run and Kids Run, where the whole family can participate, will also be held!
In the Family Run, parents and children aim for the finish line while running the same course together, and in the Kids Run, children challenge themselves to complete the race under their own power.
It's a program where the whole family can experience the feeling that 'running is fun!'
Supported by Pacers! 10km Race Held
The 'ROAD to SHONAN 10km' will be held as a step-up race for the main Shonan International Marathon.
Experienced pacers will support the participants' running, and it can be utilized as an opportunity to check running ability for the race season from autumn onwards and the actual Shonan International Marathon.
A warm-up drill is also planned before the race, making it accessible for both beginners and experienced runners.
