The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse will hold 'Red Brick Sunset 2026' for a total of 30 days from Saturday, August 1, 2026, to Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse Event Plaza. *A pre-opening will be held on Friday, July 31, from 5:00 PM. Last year, approximately 610,000 people attended, and it has been well-received both within and outside the prefecture as a summer tradition in Yokohama. This year, the theme is 'Santa Monica,' a popular resort on the West Coast of the United States. To help visitors feel a sense of coolness during the hot days, the venue will be designed to evoke 'Sunset Beach' in Santa Monica, expressing the sophisticated cityscape and a pop, colorful world with a 'retro-cute' aesthetic. The year 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the opening of 'Route 66,' which terminates in Santa Monica. Additionally, it coincides with the 250th anniversary of American independence, making it a special milestone year. Used cooking oil from the event will be provided for the production of sustainable aviation fuel. This can reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 80% compared to conventional aviation fuel. ◎Local Production for Local Consumption of Renewable Energy As part of expanding the use of renewable energy to achieve decarbonization, the event promotes initiatives utilizing surplus electricity (post-FIT) from solar power generation equipment installed in homes within Yokohama City.
