Yamaha New Artist Concert 2026 to Feature 73 Emerging Performers from 24 Universities, with New Marimba Division Established

Yamaha Music Japan Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, "the Company") will hold the "2026 Yamaha New Artist Concert," a concert featuring emerging performers who graduated from music universities and specialized music courses in 2026, at Yamaha Hall on June 19 (Fri) - 21 (Sun) and June 27 (Sat).

This concert has traditionally consisted of three divisions: "Woodwind Instruments," "Clarinet," and "Brass Instruments." However, a new "Marimba Division" has now been established. Accordingly, the concert name will be changed from the conventional "Yamaha Wind Instrument New Artist Concert" to "Yamaha New Artist Concert."

In 1983, the Company launched the "Yamaha Wind Instrument New Artist Concert" as a platform to support the activities of aspiring performers. To date, over 2,000 young performers have participated, with many now active as orchestra members, soloists, and instructors.

In the wind instrument field in Japan, many other new artist concerts are held in addition to this one. However, in the percussion field, there has been a challenge of limited opportunities for young musicians to showcase their performances and hone their skills. Against this backdrop, the marimba division was newly established with the aim of expanding the possibilities for future percussionists.

Through this concert, the Company aims to widely introduce young performers and encourage their future success.

In 1984, the Company launched the world's first 5-octave marimba, the "YM-6000." Subsequently, the "YM-6100," which inherited the design philosophy of the "YM-6000," was developed.
