Yamaha Corporation (hereinafter referred to as the Company), in collaboration with the Professional University of Information and Management for Innovation (Sumida-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter iU), will hold a special lecture titled "Vocaloid Music Culture and Production Course" to systematically learn about VOCALOID, Vocaloid music, and Vocaloid P creators. This course was planned as a joint program to systematically learn about Vocaloid culture, Vocaloid music, the activities of Vocaloid Ps, and the flow of music production, all of which have been attracting increasing attention in recent years.
Course Features The course consists of two parts: the first term and the second term. In the first term, students will learn the history of Vocaloid and copyrights through classroom lectures, as well as music production using our software "VOCALOID™6" equipped with VOCALOID:AI. In the second term, students will form teams and participate in a practical program covering everything from MV (music video) concept planning for Vocaloid P songs to ordering creators and promoting on YouTube. This comprehensive production experience using Vocaloid P songs as a subject is an unprecedented attempt globally. Practical guidance will be provided by instructors including Mr. Nejishiki, a Vocaloid P and JASRAC board member, as well as Hideki Kenmochi, the developer of Vocaloid, and Masafumi Yoshida, the current planner and developer of Vocaloid.
Course Overview First Term Vocaloid Music Culture and Production Course: Basic Edition Content: A 2-day intensive lecture to learn the basic knowledge of how Vocaloid songs are released into the world through practical music production, in addition to classroom lectures on Vocaloid history, technical explanations, and copyright. Dates: Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31, 2026, 13:00-17:00 each day Tuition fee: 30,000 yen (excluding tax)
Second Term Vocaloid Music Culture and Production Course: Practical Edition Content: A workshop-style course to practice MV concept/scenario production for Vocaloid songs, YouTube promotion, etc. Dates: November to December 2026 (4 days in total) Tuition fee: 50,000 yen (excluding tax) *Includes the full retail version of "VOCALOID6"

Hideki Kenmochi (Planning Group, R&D Planning Department, Yamaha Corporation) Vocaloid Developer Joined the company in 1993. After engaging in acoustics-related research and development, he was seconded to L&H Japan Co., Ltd. from 1996 to 1999. After training as an audio signal processing engineer, he started developing Vocaloid in 2000, and announced it externally for the first time in 2003 at "Musikmesse," the world's largest musical instrument show in Frankfurt, Germany. He was in charge of Vocaloid development and commercialization consistently until 2014. Currently based in the Tokyo metropolitan area, he is engaged in internal information dissemination, external collaboration, and management.
