WOWOW Inc.'s original drama 'Continuous Drama W: Calamity' has won the Best Drama Award at the 42nd ATP Awards TV Grand Prix. Established in 1984, the ATP Awards are uniquely judged by producers and directors from TV production companies. This marks WOWOW's first win since their Excellence Award at the 40th ATP Awards.
The psycho-suspense drama, spanning six episodes, premiered on April 6, 2025, on WOWOW Prime and WOWOW On Demand (https://wod.wowow.co.jp/program/202450). It marks Teruyuki Kagawa's return to drama after three years, where he delivers an unprecedented performance playing eight different roles. He portrays a mysterious 'man' who brings disaster to six innocent people, changing his appearance, tone, and personality for each encounter.
Anne Nakamura co-stars as Kanagawa prefectural police detective Midori Domoto, who investigates an inexplicable suicide linked to the disasters. The stellar cast also includes Ryuhei Matsuda and Jiro. The series is directed and written by Tomotaro Seki and Kentaro Hirase of the director collective '5gatsu,' offering a unique departure from conventional suspense dramas.
