【Breaking News Follow-up】Midwife National Examination Answer Key Release: 97.2% Accuracy Rate

(Headquarters: Osaka City, hereinafter "With Midwife") is pleased to announce that the answer key it released for the 109th Midwife National Examination (held on February 12, 2026) achieved an accuracy rate of 97.2% when compared with the official answers from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Our company has been continuously releasing answer keys since 2023, and this year marks the fourth year of this initiative.

Verification Results of the Answer Key

The answer key for the 109th Midwife National Examination released by With Midwife was verified against the official announcement by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, resulting in an overall accuracy rate of 97.2%.

Specifically, out of 55 morning questions, all 55 were correct (no errors), and out of 55 afternoon questions, 52 were correct (3 errors).

Additionally, 1,319 midwifery students, approximately 60% of all examinees, utilized the pre-answer form and self-scoring form.

This initiative is created by multiple qualified midwives who review each question, aiming to achieve both speed and accuracy.

Furthermore, the passing score for the 109th Midwife National Examination has been announced as 87 points or higher out of a total of 144 points, which combines general questions (1 point per question / 74 points total) and situation-setting questions (2 points per question / 70 points total).

The Challenge of Same-Day Release

This year, with the cooperation of many midwives, we successfully achieved the first-ever same-day release of the answer key on the day of the examination.

While early release of answer keys is common for the National Nursing Examination, there have been challenges with the speed of information disclosure for the Midwife National Examination. Our company started and has continued this initiative with the desire to "change the situation where only midwives are left behind."

This same-day release demonstrates that we can maintain a certain level of accuracy while increasing speed.

Midwives sharing knowledge with each other and passing it on to the next generation. This initiative is expanding as a new form of the midwifery community.

Beyond the National Examination

We view the national examination not as a "goal" but as a "start."

A midwife's career can expand significantly depending on the choices made after obtaining their license. However, currently, these options are not sufficiently visible.

"Mental Care for Supporters" Publicly Released to Protect Midwives Themselves

In Japan, where suicide is the leading cause of maternal death, the mental burden on midwives at the forefront of this issue is a significant challenge.

The declining birthrate, increase in paternal postpartum depression, and rise in high-risk pregnancies are making the support field more complex. Meanwhile, opportunities for systematic learning about supporter self-care have been limited.

Because midwives are professionals required to "be empathetic," there is a structural issue where they unconsciously internalize emotions and become exhausted.

Given this background, this program provides opportunities for systematic learning on:

・ Unique ways supporters experience mental fatigue

・ Perspectives for protecting one's own mental health

・ Self-care and interaction methods applicable in practice

We will continue to provide support for those embarking on a career as a midwife, those currently working in the field, and those wishing to return to practice, enabling them to work long and healthily.
