Background of Release
Since the latter half of the 2010s, 1-on-1 meetings have rapidly spread across many companies.
According to a quantitative survey by Persol Research and Consulting (2024, n=3,000), 55.7% of subordinates have experienced 1-on-1 meetings in the past six months.
On the other hand, the most common concern for both superiors and subordinates is "not feeling the effects of the interviews," with "lack of a system to learn about interviews" and "difficulty scheduling due to busy superiors" also ranking high.
Our company is also seeing an increasing number of consultations stating, "We introduced 1-on-1s but aren't seeing results."
The cause is not the frequency or duration of interviews, but the lack of "systems" that support 1-on-1s, such as a "culture that emphasizes human resource development," "opportunities to learn," and "quality of dialogue."
