General Incorporated Foundation Japan Standards Association (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Hiroshi Asahi) in cooperation with the Japan Environmental Management Association for Industry is operating the Circular Economy Standardization Platform (CESP) and is holding a relay lecture series on case studies and standardization trends in various fields of the circular economy. Additionally, an on-demand archive streaming service for past events is progressively becoming available for a fee.

[What is Circular Economy?]

A system that circulates resources without discarding them, balancing both the environment and the economy. According to the definition in ISO 59004:2024, it is "an economic system that contributes to sustainable development by using a systemic approach to maintain circular flows of resources and recover, retain, or add value to them."

[Purpose and Overview]

The Circular Economy Standardization Platform (CESP) aims to facilitate cross-sectoral information sharing, opinion exchange, and discussion on policy responses regarding trends in national laws and regulations, international standards, and forum standards, by holding a relay lecture series.

The 6th session will focus on "CE Response and Standardization in the Packaging Sector," with lectures on trends in the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and standardization in ISO/TC122 (Packaging), as well as Japan's initiatives and conformity assessment system regarding European regulations for recycled plastics intended for food contact.
