Washinmura in Futtsu, Chiba Holds 'Cat General Election 2025', AI Talent Show Coming Soon

Washinmura, an inn where you can stay with cats in Futtsu City, Chiba, is holding its first Cat General Election 2025.

Currently, the first-ever "Cat General Election 2025" is underway at Washinmura and is becoming a hot topic on their social media. A fierce competition among 15 shelter cats is unfolding, and a "Cat Talent Show" utilizing AI technology is also planned.

What is the Cat General Election? It is an unprecedented event where 15 shelter cats living at Washinmura compete for the position of "Oshi-neko" (favorite cat). Living in the Boso satoyama (woodlands), just 90 minutes by car from Tokyo, these cats with unique personalities are doing their best to capture the hearts of fans with their individual charms.

Current Status: 11 cats have already been introduced in parts 1 through 3. The remaining 4 cats will be announced in part 4.

Washinmura's Animal Welfare Efforts Under the theme of "coexistence of humans, animals, and nature," Washinmura provides an environment where 15 shelter cats can live freely. As a registered Class 1 Animal Handling Business facility, health management is strictly conducted under the guidance of veterinarians. Bringing in commercially available snacks is prohibited, and only carefully selected additive-free, domestically produced snacks are sold on-site, prioritizing operations that reduce stress on the animals.

Easily Accessible Location Despite its excellent location—just 90 minutes by car from central Tokyo and about 10 minutes by taxi from Kazusa-Minato Station on the JR Uchibo Line—guests can fully enjoy the rich satoyama environment of Boso.
