'EBiDAN THE FIRST Otomi' to Begin Streaming on July 1 (Wed)!

As the first installment of EBiDAN THE FIRST Otomi, ONE N' ONLY's Rei Sawamura will read Osamu Dazai's 'Kakomi Uta' (A Plea for Help), with streaming starting on Audible!

Wani Books Co., Ltd. (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Akio Takahashi) has partnered with Amazon's audiobook service 'Audible' to launch 'EBiDAN THE FIRST Otomi,' a project featuring EBiDAN members reading classic literature.

In this project, EBiDAN members will read timeless masterpieces by authors such as Osamu Dazai.

These will be exclusively streamed on Audible for four consecutive months starting July 2026.

The commemorative first installment features Rei Sawamura of ONE N' ONLY, who has garnered attention for his co-starring role in 'Shall We Stop Being Best Friends?' (MBS). He will read Osamu Dazai's 'Kakomi Uta' (A Plea for Help), with streaming beginning in July.

'Kakomi Uta' (A Plea for Help) is a short story centered on Judas Iscariot, the disciple who betrayed Jesus Christ. It depicts Judas's complex emotions—deep reverence for Christ mixed with intense jealousy, trust, and betrayal—in a first-person monologue, making it a representative masterpiece of Dazai's literature.

Judas's words, spoken as if clinging to someone or justifying his sins, have captivated readers for many years since their publication, even now.

This masterpiece can be enjoyed as a new literary experience through listening, with Sawamura's soft, sweet voice and delicate expressiveness.

Regarding this reading, Sawamura commented, 'As the title suggests, 'Kakomi Uta' (A Plea for Help) is a work with a captivating speed, where words pour out like a dam breaking.' He further promoted the highlights of the work, saying, 'I whispered the contradictory world of love depicted by Osamu Dazai for about an hour. I really want everyone to listen.'
