Thoughts on this collection and show
This collection, "Soka-tan — Botanical Stories," was created with the purpose of shining a new light on kimonos that were sleeping in closets and connecting them to modern daily life.
We perceive the plant motifs drawn on kimonos as "stories" and have reconstructed the aesthetic sense and layers of time with which the Japanese people have coexisted with nature, using a modern sensibility.
By simplifying the dressing process and proposing it through styling and layering, we want to pass down Japanese clothing to the future not as something special, but as a "culture that can be continuously worn."
In the cycle that connects the past and present, nature and people, we expressed the form of the kimono breathing again as a show.
Particulars of this show
We were particular about conveying the worldview through the entire space, not just the clothes.
The presentation was designed so that the patterns seem to open with the models' movements, and by incorporating the sounds of wind chimes, water, and birds into the originally produced music, we created a composition where nature can be felt with the five senses...
