Val Laboratory, the developer and operator of the route search service "Ekisupart" (Headquarters: Suginami-ku, Tokyo, President: Munetsugu Kikuchi, hereinafter "Val Laboratory"), has supported initiatives to create vibrancy in the Koenji Pure Shopping Street (Organizer: Koenji Ginza Shopping Association Cooperative) as part of its gratitude and contribution to the Koenji area where its headquarters are located.

This initiative supports Suginami City's "Future-Creating Shopping Street Support Project" and provided support for the introduction of AI cameras to the "Awa Odori Monument" installed within the shopping street.

■ Background of Support

Val Laboratory, founded in 1976, has its headquarters in Koenji and has continued to develop software that supports public transportation infrastructure. As a "return of favor" to the community that has supported us for many years, this support was realized with the desire to contribute to creating a more attractive town for shopping streets and visitors.

Koenji has a culture and vitality that attracts many people throughout the year, including Japan's representative "Tokyo Koenji Awa Odori." Our company will walk together with the local community as a partner for the sustainable development of this traditional town.

■ Content of the Initiative

We supported the introduction of AI cameras to be installed on high-hanging lanterns placed between the Awa Odori monument statues that symbolize the shopping street's landscape. By analyzing foot traffic data, it will be possible to objectively grasp and visualize visitor movements during events and daily life, which were previously understood intuitively. The acquired data is expected to be used as foundational information for creating a highly walkable town, such as ensuring pedestrian safety and more attractive store placements and event planning.

Furthermore, at the monument's unveiling ceremony held the other day, our President, Mr. Kikuchi, also attended and prayed for the future development of Koenji along with local residents.

■ Future Outlook

Val Laboratory will continue to contribute to sustainable town development by leveraging its expertise in public transportation and mobility, while cherishing connections with local communities, including Koenji. We will deepen cooperation with the government, shopping streets, and local residents to continue supporting Koenji as a town where people want to live and visit.
