Maruetsu Announces Donations to WWF Japan and JEAN

Maruetsu Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Toshima-ku, Tokyo; President: Masaharu Honma) has been making annual donations to the World Wide Fund for Nature Japan (WWF Japan) and the Japan Environmental Action Network (JEAN) since 2020 as part of its environmental conservation activities. We are pleased to announce that we will be making donations again this year as follows. The total cumulative donation amount to date is 14,000,000 yen, which has been utilized for various activities aimed at preserving the natural environment and biodiversity. Moving forward, we will continue to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by striving to co-create a 'rich local community' together with our customers and promoting initiatives to reduce environmental impact. [About the Recipients] WWF Japan is an environmental conservation organization active in over 100 countries. We have been a corporate member since April 2020. JEAN is a non-profit environmental NGO active since 1990, dedicated to solving marine debris issues for a clean ocean. [Other Environmental Initiatives] We are actively promoting initiatives such as ISO14001 certification, recycling boxes at almost all stores, forest conservation volunteer activities at 'Maruetsu Forest,' and the use of renewable energy in approximately 190 stores, which accounts for about 60% of our total electricity consumption.
