USJ Launches 25th Anniversary Event: 'Cinema Night Picnic ~Discover U!!!~'

Universal Studios Japan is hosting its first-ever outdoor movie event, 'Cinema Night Picnic ~Discover U!!!~', for a limited time every weekend in June 2026, as part of its 25th-anniversary commemorative program.

On the first day of the event, today, June 5, 2026 (Friday), the timeless classic film 'Jaws' by Universal Pictures and Steven Spielberg was screened at Gramercy Park in the New York area. A large crowd of movie and park fans enjoyed a special cinematic experience under the clear night sky, relaxing on the grass in a unique venue woven with powerful sounds and visuals from the outdoor screen.

Guests laid out picnic mats, enjoyed cart food and drinks, and donned their favorite 'Jaws' merchandise, immersing themselves in the world of the panic thriller while enjoying time in the heart of the park's 1930s New York streetscape. After the screening, the audience erupted in applause, creating a warm atmosphere.

Before today's screening, an opening movie featuring the park's Talkative General Manager (SGM), 'Reika Ayanokoji', was unveiled. In her signature style, she thrilled the audience with lines like, 'Isn't it amazing that we can watch movies at Gramercy Park?!' and 'Let's jump into the world of cinema!' This original surprise video, created specifically for this event, will be shown before every film screening throughout the series.

'Cinema Night Picnic ~Discover U!!!~' is an event designed to allow guests to experience 'Discover USJ', one of the two main ideas behind the 25th-anniversary theme, 'Discover U!!!'. To celebrate the anniversary, a total of 10 world-famous hit films associated with the park's attractions—including Universal Pictures classics like 'Back to the Future', 'E.T.', 'Jurassic Park', and 'Waterworld'—will be screened to help guests rediscover the power of entertainment.
