Universal Studios Japan (operated by USJ LLC) will hold "Thanks Love Month 2026," a special commemorative month to express "gratitude" and "love" to important people around us, not just on Mother's Day and Father's Day, for a limited time from Friday, May 8, 2026, to Sunday, June 21, 2026.

Prior to the public opening, special programs to be implemented for a limited time were unveiled to the press today at Stage 33 within the park. In addition, the first-ever pop-up event, "Flower Shop that Blooms with 'Thank You'," also started today in Tokyo, with opening ceremonies held simultaneously in Tokyo and Osaka.

Around 9:00 AM, park characters adorned with colorful flower bouquets and brooches gathered at the ceremony venue. They unveiled "Gift of Thanks ~Thanks Love Month~," the park's first greeting show designed to make everyone want to express "thank you" more to their loved ones, to approximately 200 invited guests. Guests who arrived early also celebrated the start of the gratitude month with lively music and dance, filled with happiness and exchanging thanks, as confetti fluttered and shouts of "Thank you!" filled the air.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Hironobu Kurokawa, Senior Vice President and CMO/Head of Marketing at USJ LLC, took the stage. Regarding "Thanks Love Month," which is celebrating its 5th year*1, he stated, "Under the CSR slogan 'LOVE HAS NO LIMIT,' we hold this event annually with the aim of creating a future full of children's smiles. We believe that through this event, which encourages expressing gratitude to loved ones, people can easily say 'thank you' to each other, and a society overflowing with love and gratitude will lead to a 'super energetic' society." He also announced the results of a survey on "gratitude" conducted by the company for the first time this year.

The survey revealed that 67.4% of respondents have someone they want to thank. However, more than 40% of them have not been able to convey their gratitude to that person. When asked when they last expressed gratitude to the person they most wanted to thank, about half had not done so within the last six months, and about one in four (24.5%) could not remember when they last expressed it.

Universal Studios Japan has always advocated "Thanks Love Month" as a new opportunity to express gratitude not only to mothers and fathers but to all important people, adapting to the diversifying lifestyles, family structures, and ways of expressing gratitude in today's era. Based on the background revealed by this survey, the company decided to hold the pop-up event "Flower Shop that Blooms with 'Thank You'" in Tokyo for the first time. Today, Elmo and Cookie Monster also rushed to a special venue in Tokyo, celebrating the grand opening, and the commemorative month filled with gratitude and love simultaneously kicked off in Eastern and Western Japan.

This year, we will provide experiences that make more people want to express "thank you" in various locations, creating new opportunities for everyone to naturally express gratitude freely and anytime in their daily lives.
