Urbanet Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director, Chairman and CEO: Shinji Hattori) has started accepting applications for the student-only 3D art competition "ART MEETS ARCHITECTURE COMPETITION (AAC2026)" from April 7, 2026.

To date, our company has been working on creating spaces themed around the fusion of "art and daily life" and "art and architecture" by permanently exhibiting artworks such as sculptures and paintings in the common areas of the condominiums we develop.

As part of these efforts, this competition publicly solicits 3D artworks from students to be installed in the entrance halls of newly built condominiums. Since its inception in 2001, it marks its 26th year this year, and has earned a high reputation as a gateway to success that has produced many young artists.

For students, it is a valuable opportunity to have their works permanently installed in actual architectural spaces, making it a practical art competition that serves as their first step as professionals.

Everyday life consists of busily coming and going through the entrance hall of one's condominium. A single piece of artwork that always catches the corner of the eye for just a moment as each resident passes by. "I'm off," "Take care," "I'm back," "Good work today. How was your day?"—Please imagine a daily life where residents you have yet to see think of and converse with your artwork. I hope to encounter a one-of-a-kind artwork that will always offer encouragement and comfort, and be cherished affectionately for a long time as "our..." artwork.

Together with the people living with the artwork, time quietly accumulates and eventually turns into a landscape. I look forward to encountering the shape of a challenge where the works you propose act upon the space and become an existence that creates a new axis.

I cooperated in the planning of the "AAC 25th Anniversary Exhibition" held at Shibuya Hikarie in October 2025, and reunited with participating artists as well as past AAC winners since it started in 2001, meeting many people involved. For each individual currently active in various fields such as sculptors, artists, creators, instructors, and gallerists, applying to and winning the AAC has become a great experience, strength, and encouragement, leading to their subsequent paths. It is a valuable experiential opportunity to receive support for production costs and give a presentation at the permanent installation site. Please take on the challenge. I look forward to encountering new artworks.
