UPDATER Inc. (Location: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Eiji Oishi), Kakuichi Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture, President: Riyo Tanaka), and Koshidaka Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President: Hiroshi Koshitaka), which operates "Karaoke Manekineko," today, July 1st, announced the signing of a contract for a "Regionally Distributed, Locally Consumed Corporate PPA" to procure electricity by aggregating numerous low-voltage solar power plants (4.95-9.90kW class) installed on the roofs of existing containers/garages.
Under this agreement, starting from August 2026, 100% renewable energy (Note 1) generated by regional solar power plants will be sequentially supplied to 41 "Karaoke Manekineko" stores across five areas: Tohoku, Hokuriku, Kansai, Chugoku, and Shikoku. By matching each store with power plants within the same region, we will promote the circulation of electricity charges within the region and realize direct procurement of distributed renewable energy, independent of large-scale power plants. The supply system, spread across 61 locations in 5 areas, possesses high resilience unique to distributed systems, capable of mutual coverage by other locations should one power generation site stop operating. This structure, not reliant on distant large-scale power plants, enhances the stability of regional power supply during disasters and power outages, leading to the formation of a robust regional energy infrastructure. Through these initiatives, we aim to contribute to the development of sustainable local communities and economic revitalization.
Notably, "Karaoke Manekineko" is the first in the karaoke industry in Japan to adopt such a "Regionally Distributed, Locally Consumed Corporate PPA." (Researched by Koshidaka Co., Ltd. as of July 2026)
Note 1: 100% renewable energy electricity is supplied by combining electricity from renewable energy sources with the environmental value of non-fossil certificates designated for renewable energy. CO2 emissions will also be zero.
Background of the Initiative
Currently, the introduction of renewable energy is an essential trend, particularly among major corporations. On the other hand, large-scale ground-mounted solar power generation, which involves deforestation, faces rapidly strengthening legal regulations from the government due to risks of sediment disasters, environmental destruction, and challenges in gaining consensus from local residents. Consequently, demand for methods of procuring energy without damaging the natural environment is increasing. (Note 2) In response to these social issues, UPDATER has consistently focused on procurement from sustainable power plants that do not cause environmental destruction. Furthermore, going beyond mere renewable energy introduction, we are pioneering the industry in achieving "local consumption alongside renewable energy introduction" by circulating that electricity within the region.
This project is part of that initiative. Kakuichi has established a clean procurement system that involves no new land development by borrowing the roofs of existing garages and containers from owners, primarily farmers. By combining this with our proprietary blockchain technology, "ENECTION2.0" (Note 3), we have realized matching supply that connects numerous distributed power sources scattered across regions with each store, which was technically difficult until now.
This innovative mechanism enables direct procurement of renewable energy, overcoming the physical barriers unique to "Karaoke Manekineko," which often opens stores in urban areas or within buildings and cannot own power generation facilities. At the stores, a new cycle is created where electricity charges from local residents enjoying entertainment are directly returned to local power plants. As the entire town becomes richer through this regional circulation, the stores, as members of the community, can continue their operations to be loved and rooted for the long term.
This Regionally Distributed, Locally Consumed Corporate PPA, which simultaneously achieves environmental consideration, community contribution, high disaster resilience, and store longevity, is set to become a new standard in the market. Starting with this project, the three companies will not only introduce renewable energy but also create a new market trend towards regional symbiosis, strongly driving the development of a sustainable energy society.

Overview of Regionally Distributed, Locally Consumed Corporate PPA
Unlike "Off-site PPA," where many RE100 companies currently procure electricity through long-term contracts from mega-solar plants built on vast land, Regionally Distributed, Locally Consumed Corporate PPA is a new PPA model that aggregates and procures electricity from numerous low-voltage solar power plants (4.95-9.90kW class) installed on the roofs of existing containers/garages.

【Features of Regionally Distributed, Locally Consumed Corporate PPA】
1. Zero New Land Development (Environmental Consideration)
Low environmental impact solar power generation that does not involve any new deforestation or land development by effectively utilizing existing container/garage rooftops.
2. "Local Consumption" Model for Electricity
Realizes clean regional circulation of energy by consuming renewable energy generated in a region at stores in the same region.
3. "Resilience (Disaster Prevention Capability)" Strong Against Disasters
Compared to typical off-site PPAs that transmit power from distant power plants, this system utilizes on-site electricity, making it robust against disasters and power outages.
Start of Supply: Scheduled for August 2026 onwards
Customer: Koshidaka Co., Ltd. (Dogenzaka, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo)
Power Plant: Kakuichi Co., Ltd. (Tsuruga Midori-cho, Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture)
Generation Method: Rooftop solar power generation
Equipment Capacity: 61 power plants x average approx. 8kW = Total installed capacity approx. 490kW (AC base)
Contract Type: Corporate PPA (Physical PPA / Off-site type)
Contract Period: 20 years
*The electricity used by Koshidaka has been supplied at 100% renewable energy from Miminoden since before. The conclusion of this Corporate PPA further strengthens that procurement system and newly realizes regionally distributed local consumption.
Comment from Mr. Hiroshi Koshitaka, President of Koshidaka Co., Ltd.
As the introduction of renewable energy is essential for a decarbonized society, local consumption procurement that does not harm the environment is the responsibility of companies going forward. Karaoke Manekineko often opens stores within buildings, and the inability to own power generation facilities was a barrier, but this innovative mechanism, which allows us to utilize local electricity without land development, was the deciding factor for adoption. In the future, we aim for a new future of regional symbiosis where customers enjoying themselves at our stores enriches local power plants, and the stores endure together with the region. We will be pioneers in creating a new society where enjoyment and sustainability coexist, strongly leading the industry.
