On July 1, 2026 (Wed), the 2026 Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association Awards Kinki Region Judging Committee was held, and TV Osaka's production "Hentai Shokubutsu Club" took first place in the 2026 Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association Awards TV Variety Program category.

This program will advance to the Central Judging Committee as the Kinki region representative.

Plants with awe-inspiring natural forms that rival fashion, art, and architecture. Enthusiasts call rare and peculiar plants that they are passionate about "Hentai Shokubutsu" (perverted plants) with respect and humor, in this unique plant program that delves into the "world of beauty and obsession."

The broadcast that won first place this time featured traveler Hyoroku visiting the legendary plant shop "Hana-Uchu" in Hyogo Prefecture.

He was guided by Isao Nishihata, the representative. He is a legend who has long led the rare plant culture in Japan.

Hana-Uchu is considered a "sacred place" by plant enthusiasts, a dreamlike space where an obsession with plants has taken shape. Hyoroku was captivated by the numerous rare plants gathered from around the world while touring the giant greenhouses...

While the rare and peculiar plants that enthusiasts are passionate about are fascinating, our interest was not solely in the plants themselves. We were drawn to the people who are so engrossed in plants that they dedicate their lives to them, becoming so absorbed that they are called "hentai" by those around them.

People who are passionate about their interests and value their own unique perspectives seemed incredibly free and attractive in today's somewhat restrictive society.

"People who can be serious about what they love are interesting." We are very happy that the feelings we poured into this program have borne fruit and received this prestigious award.

Approximately 20 selected specialty shops will gather for a "strange" plant market, featuring many "unique plants that can only be found here."
