Taking the top spot in the 2026 summer drama rankings is TBS's Sunday Theater "VIVANT Season 2." This sequel to "VIVANT," which aired in the summer of 2023 and received high acclaim both domestically and internationally, features Masato Sakai reprising his role as Yūsuke Nogi, a protagonist who appears to be an ordinary salaryman but is secretly an intelligence agent for the JSDF's unofficial unit, "Bebban."
Following in second place is "Confession -The Secret of 25 Years-", marking Hokuto Matsumura's first solo lead role in a terrestrial drama.
The story depicts the most innocent yet most dangerous love suspense: a protagonist who has been unrequitedly in love with one woman for 25 years since childhood. Is it "pure love" or "madness in the name of obsession"?
In third place is TBS's Friday Drama slot "Until the T-shirt Dries."
Written by Hisako Umemoto, who is writing for TBS for the first time, the drama depicts "love" and "secrets" that begin with the loss experienced by two couples involved in an accident. The lead role is played by Yū Aoi, in her first starring role in a TBS serial drama.
