The Ayukawa Tetsuya Award, established to commemorate the achievements of author Tetsuya Ayukawa, has announced this year's winning work.

This 36th Ayukawa Tetsuya Award, since its first recipient Taku Ashibe (1990), has produced fresh talent in the field, including Shinsuke Ishikawa, Tomoko Kano, Fumie Kondo, Akira Aikawa, Ko Kitasaki, Taro Mansaka, Kenji Kodama, Katsunori Asukabe, Noriyuki Monzen, Hitoshi Goto, Akiko Moriya, Keijiro Kozu, Ruriko Kishida, Kazushi Asami, Yoshihiro Yamaguchi, Kana Nanukawa, Sako Aizawa, Junichi Amma, Wataru Tsukihara, Ayato Yamada, Yugo Aosaki, Tetsuya Ichikawa, Jun Uchiyama, Yuto Ichikawa, Masahiro Imamura, Kohei Kawasumi, Kie Hojo, Rio Chida, Yoshiki Okamoto, and Mio Yamaguchi.

For this Ayukawa Tetsuya Award, 209 works were submitted by the deadline of October 31, 2025. As a result of the first selection round on December 22 of the same year, 18 works passed. Following the second selection round on January 27 of this year, 11 works passed, and the third selection round on February 2 resulted in the following four works being chosen as finalists:

Sasao Ugami – 'Cannabis of Tomato Killer' Raito Edogawa – 'A Detective Close to Limitless' Seishu Egawa – 'Murder at the Otherworld Mansion' Makoto Yuuki – 'Samayoeru Eien'

On March 31, the final selection committee, consisting of judges Yugo Aosaki, Tokuya Higashigawa, and Yusuke Maya, made the final decision as stated above. Details of the selection process will be published in our bimonthly magazine 'Shimi no Techo vol.31', scheduled for release in October. The winning work 'Samayoeru Eien' will also be published in October.
