I don't know what training is right for me. I'm not confident that what I'm doing now will lead to results. Even if I ask AI, all I get are generalities—.

TriAslead, Inc. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Yujiro Tsutsumi) has released "TriGo" (read: Tri-Go), an AI triathlon coach app, on the App Store. The app was developed by the representative himself, an active triathlete and a researcher studying exercise physiology in a doctoral program. To commemorate the release, all features are available for free for the time being. An Android version is also scheduled for release soon.

Seven expert coaches comprehensively support the user's triathlon life, including creating training plans, managing progress, providing feedback on workouts, advising on race pacing and nutrition strategies, acquiring knowledge, and conducting fitness tests, all aimed at achieving the user's goals.

Background of Development – The Problem of Not Having a "Personal Coach"

Triathlon is a comprehensive sport involving three disciplines—swim, bike, and run—performed by one person, and effective training requires advanced specialized knowledge. The triathlon competitive population in Japan is estimated to be over 300,000. However, many amateur athletes (age groupers) find it difficult to have a dedicated coach and currently rely on self-guided training.

Even with increased training volume, records hit a plateau. They can't perform as expected on race day. They can't confirm with anyone whether their current training is correct. Even if they consult general-purpose AI, they don't get pinpoint advice based on their physical condition. Many athletes face these concerns.

TriGo was born to solve this problem with "Exercise Physiology × AI." The developer, Yujiro Tsutsumi, is an active triathlete who also competes in Ironman races and a researcher specializing in exercise physiology in a doctoral program. VO2max (maximum oxygen uptake = the body's "engine performance"), Lactate Threshold (LT = the "limit line" of performance), and Running Economy (RE = the "fuel efficiency" of running). The research findings on these physiological indicators are directly reflected in TriGo's algorithms.

"I want to deliver a coach who deeply understands your body and gives pinpoint advice to all triathletes" – TriGo was born from this desire.

Test User Feedback

Even before the official release, we received a lot of positive feedback during the testing phase. What was particularly highly praised was the "pinpoint advice tailored to one's condition," which differs from general-purpose AI, the insights gained from coach feedback after training, and the addictive app experience described as "the more you use it, the more fun it gets." We also received comments like "I introduced it to my friends" and reports that actual training behavior has changed.

Main Features of TriGo

1. Personalized Training Based on Exercise Physiology

TriGo's greatest feature is that exercise physiology indicators are at the core of its algorithms. Unlike typical template-based training apps, it automatically generates training plans optimized for individual physical abilities and race goals, based on the user's physiological data such as VO2max, lactate threshold, and running economy.

The volume, intensity, and frequency of training are all designed based on scientific evidence. By periodizing backwards from race day, it provides an optimal process for achieving goals.

2. Simulation Function that Answers, "If I continue training like this, will I reach my goal?"

One of TriGo's notable features is its race performance simulation. It visualizes the expected time on race day, based on physiological indicators, if the current training plan is continued.

"Will I make it by the target race?" "Is my current training volume sufficient?" – AI provides data-driven insights into these anxieties. Being able to confirm the validity of the plan beforehand helps maintain motivation and optimize the plan.

When a target race is set, a periodized training plan is automatically generated, counting back from the race day, according to the user's current fitness level and performance indicators.

When training is executed according to the plan, a unique algorithm based on exercise physiology predicts how much performance indicators will improve and what time the race can be completed in.

The prediction is updated based on training progress and fitness test results.

3. Seven AI Expert Coaches – A Coaching Team in Your Pocket

TriGo is equipped with seven AI coaches, each specializing in a different field.

Go — Head Coach. Oversees the entire training plan. Sena — Swim Specialist. Bell — Bike Specialist. Riku — Run Specialist. Sam — Strength & Conditioning Specialist. Mari — Mental Specialist. Nami — Nutrition Specialist.

The seven coaches provide a consistent coaching experience based on the common foundation of exercise physiology. They comprehensively support all areas necessary for triathlon, from technical guidance in swim, bike, and run, to strength training, mental strategies on race day, and nutrition planning.

4. "TG Lab" – Learn and Get Stronger

TriGo is not just an app that provides menus. The "TG Lab" feature offers a learning environment where users can grow by understanding the "why" behind their training through content on exercise physiology and training theory. Understanding why one runs in a certain zone or why one should rest today changes the quality and proactiveness of daily training.

"TG Lab" is a learning hub for acquiring knowledge about triathlon.

Wiki (glossary of exercise physiology terms) explains topics related to triathlon, such as the physiological basis of endurance, energy metabolism, hormones and endocrinology, and the science of mental aspects, in an easy-to-understand manner.

Lab (simulator) provides various simulation functions using the user's actual data.

Assessment (tests & measurements) explains and records methods for regular fitness tests, sweat tests, gut training, etc.

Academy (video lectures) features the seven coaches explaining exercise physiology-related topics and app usage in simple 60-second videos.

5. Customization of Training Plans

Training plans can be flexibly customized according to the user's available weekly training time, type and date of target race, and current fitness level. It creates realistic and sustainable plans that cater to the lifestyles of amateur athletes who need to balance work and family responsibilities.

6. "TG Road" – Gamification Feature

TriGo features a unique gamification function called "TG Road," where users earn points for daily workouts, learning in TG Lab, and spreading the word on social media. These points allow them to advance on a virtual triathlon course and aim for the finish line, providing a fun way to sustain training.

About Free Offerings

To commemorate the launch, all TriGo features are available for free for the time being. All functions, including personalized coaching by seven AI coaches, automatic training plan generation, simulation features, TG Lab, and TG Road, can be tried without restrictions.

Future Developments

An Android version is scheduled for release soon. We also plan to expand direct integration with external devices. Currently, data integration with Strava is supported, and going forward, we will further broaden the range of devices integrated with those commonly used by triathletes, such as GPS watches and cycling computers.

We are also planning to offer VO2max and lactate threshold measurement services linked to the app. By combining actual measurement data with the app's algorithms, we aim to achieve even more accurate personalized coaching.

Furthermore, we are considering introducing a system through partnerships with triathlon-related companies, allowing points earned on TG Road to be exchanged for triathlon-related products.
