[Miyakojima Tokyu Hotel & Resorts] Summer-Exclusive 'Ocean Research Class' Returns

Miyakojima Tokyu Hotel & Resorts (Miyakojima City, Okinawa; General Manager: Atsuyoshi Shiraki) is pleased to announce the return of the 'Ocean Research Class,' following its success last year. The event will be held for two days: Friday, August 7, and Friday, August 14, 2026. Targeted at upper-elementary school students, the program allows children to learn about the marine environment of Miyakojima while completing a worksheet that can be submitted as a summer research project. We have invited sustainability coordinator Seri Hara, who is active in Miyakojima, to lead the session. Through hands-on experiences, such as touching coral fragments, the program is designed to spark children's curiosity. After the classroom session, participants will search for and observe coral on the hotel premises and learn about eco-friendly practices for daily life, providing an opportunity to deepen their understanding of SDGs and the marine environment. In this 90-minute session, we aim to provide a valuable opportunity for children to connect their own lives with the future of the planet, beyond just completing a school assignment.
