Karuizawa's summer, at an elevation of approximately 1,000 meters, features dramatic cumulus clouds floating across the expansive blue sky. From July 10, 2026, Kyukaruizawa KIKYO will offer the 'KIKYO Summer Afternoon Tea,' capturing the vivid greenery swaying in the breeze and the scenic beauty of the highland summer.

The tea stand features sweets and savories incorporating seasonal vegetables and fruits, including butterfly pea jelly reminiscent of the blue sky and amazake mousse shaped like clouds. Each dish artfully represents the summer landscape unique to the highlands—sky, clouds, and the vibrant bounty of summer.

The sweets selection includes six items, such as 'Sour Cherry Mizu Yokan' made with sour cherries harvested annually by hotel staff, 'Fruit Suika,' 'Corn Catalan,' and 'Cabbage Choux Cream,' which uses real dried cabbage. These dishes allow guests to enjoy the summer's gifts from nature with both sight and taste.

For scones, we offer the 'Tomato and Basil Scone' made with house-dried tomatoes, delivering a rich tomato umami and refreshing basil aroma—a perfect summer flavor. The savory selection includes three items: 'Grilled Eggplant Cold Potage,' 'Light Corn Tartine,' and 'Shinshu Beef Summer Vegetable Burger.' These highlight the colorful appearance and savory aroma of seasonal summer vegetables, offering a taste of highland summer.
