Tokyo News Tsushinsha, the publisher of "TV Guide" magazine, will begin digital distribution of Kiriko Nananan's "Pumpkin and Mayonnaise," "Kiriko Nananan Uncollected Works Vol. 1," "Kiriko Nananan Uncollected Works Vol. 2," "Haruchin 1," and "Haruchin 2" starting June 30 (Tue.). These can be purchased at various e-bookstores.

Kiriko Nananan, a manga artist who has captured the universal emotions and subtle nuances of men and women living in the city with painful, gentle, and profound portrayals of fleeting days drawn with beautiful line art. She continues to receive high artistic acclaim from overseas. As the third installment of digital distribution, five new works will be released.

The works to be distributed include "Pumpkin and Mayonnaise," "Haruchin 1," and "Haruchin 2," which were reissued in new editions in 2020, as well as "Kiriko Nananan Uncollected Works Vol. 1" and "Kiriko Nananan Uncollected Works Vol. 2," which contain short stories and illustrations that were previously unpublished and uncollected until their compilation in 2020.

"Pumpkin and Mayonnaise" is a masterpiece of romance manga that was also adapted into a film in 2017. "Pumpkin and Mayonnaise," Kiriko Nananan's masterpiece and a romance manga that continues to capture the hearts of many readers.

Tsuchida and Seiichi, who have been living together for several years, find their relationship stagnant. Tsuchida secretly works in the nightlife industry to support Seiichi, who aspires to be a musician. During this time, Tsuchida reunites with her former lover, Hagio, whom she has never forgotten. Amidst lingering feelings for the past, comfort in the present, and anxiety for the future, each character seeks their own form of happiness.

This work, published in 1999, has not faded with time and was adapted into a live-action film in 2017 starring Asami Usuda and Taiga (now: Taiga Nakano).

Released in 2020 as the first new publication in 13 years, long-awaited by fans. Volume 1 includes her debut work "HOLE!!" from 1993, as well as rare unpublished and uncollected short stories and illustrations drawn in the late 1990s.

This valuable collection allows readers to trace Nananan's origins, featuring works like "Tomoo," drawn in a diary style that offers a glimpse into her raw creative process, and the unpublished work "fault," which was intentionally left without typesetting.

Volume 2 contains rare unpublished and uncollected short stories and illustrations drawn after 2000.

Through a variety of styles, including "My Dog Love Love Diary," which chronicles her daily life with her beloved dog, "Nananan," a comical self-portrait, and the full-length work "High Time" published in 2003, readers can discover different facets of Kiriko Nananan. A popular essay manga serialized for a long time in "Hanako" magazine. It is all-color and consists of self-contained 11-panel episodes, setting it apart from her other delicate, monochrome works. Despite being a pop and unconventional work, fans often call it their "favorite."

The protagonists are Haruchin, a freeter whose problem is being too boyish, and her girlish best friend, Chi-chan. Their ordinary yet very enjoyable daily lives as single women are depicted, making readers chuckle wryly and say, "Ah, well..."

Kiriko Nananan herself has said that drawing these heartwarming characters was a great way for her to relax.

Debuted in 1993 with "HOLE!!" (Monthly Manga "Garo"). Primarily published in "COMIC ARE!," "CUTiE comic," "FEEL YOUNG," and others. Published "Water.," "blue," and "Itowish Love" in succession. Gained attention for her style of depicting raw emotions in sophisticated art, while also gaining popularity for "Haruchin," which depicted daily life with a rough touch. Her representative works include "blue," "Pumpkin and Mayonnaise," and "strawberry shortcakes," all of which were adapted into movies and generated buzz. In 2010, she provided illustrations for "I Am Alone, the Night Expands: Michizo Tachihara Poetry Collection" and then went on hiatus. Her last manga work published in a collected volume was "Candy's Color is Red." in 2007. In 2020, her past works were reissued in new editions for the first time in 13 years, along with "Kiriko Nananan's Collected Works Commentary" by Nananan herself, and "Kiriko Nananan Uncollected Works," which compiles rare unpublished and uncollected works from her debut to her last serialized work before her hiatus.
