'TOKYO LIGHTS 2026' Concludes: A 9-Day 'Festival of Light' Attracting a Record 80,000 People, Finale for the Event That Transformed Tokyo's Nights

The Projection Mapping International Award TOKYO Executive Committee successfully concluded the 'TOKYO LIGHTS 2026' festival of light, held over nine days from Saturday, May 23, to Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building's Citizens' Plaza and the Nishi-Shinjuku area. During the event, approximately 80,000 people from Japan and abroad attended, showcasing the potential of Tokyo's new nighttime tourism to the world. On Saturday, May 30, the awards ceremony for the '1minute Projection Mapping Competition,' one of the world's largest projection mapping international competitions, was held, determining the top works from around the globe. Additionally, on the final day, Sunday, May 31, the Grand Finale featured official ambassador and actor Tao Tsuchiya, along with special supporters Honoka Tsuchiya and Shinba Tsuchiya. They participated in a talk stage reflecting on the charm of 'TOKYO LIGHTS 2026' and the excitement during the event, greatly enlivening the venue. 'TOKYO LIGHTS 2026,' held in the Nishi-Shinjuku area for the first time, became a major topic on social media. Throughout the event, many visitors, including families and inbound tourists, visited Shinjuku Central Park, the stage for the 'Light Art Park,' where they were seen enjoying the light art in their own ways—sitting on lawns and benches, watching, touching, and experiencing the works.
