The film 'Samurai Timeslipper' sparked a major cultural phenomenon. Starting from just one theater, word-of-mouth praise led to a nationwide expansion, eventually screening in over 330 theaters across Japan. It surpassed ¥1 billion in box office revenue and won the prestigious '48th Japan Academy Prize' for Picture of the Year—an extraordinary achievement for an indie film. Sweeping numerous film awards, it became a social phenomenon.

The manga adaptation of 'Samurai Timeslipper' was made possible when director Junichi Yasuda personally reached out to manga artist Korisu, who had been posting fan art of the film on X (formerly Twitter). Serialized in Animedia, the manga faithfully followed the film's storyline across 12 chapters, enriched with lovingly crafted Easter eggs and details that captivated fans.

Now, with the August issue (released July 10), the 'Samurai Timeslipper' manga serialization concludes. The collected comic volumes (2 volumes total) will be released, compiling all serialized chapters. Additionally, new original stories drawn exclusively by Korisu will be included, making these volumes essential reading for both fans and newcomers.

In collaboration with the upcoming period drama series 'Shinpa Muyō no Suke,' set to premiere on BS-TBS starting July 16!

The manga prequel 'Shinpa Muyō no Suke: Gaiden' will be serialized in Animedia's August and September issues!

The period drama 'Shinpa Muyō no Suke,' originally featured within the film, is now being adapted into a live-action spin-off series. Starring Tsutomu Tamura as the titular Shinpa Muyō no Suke, alongside Yuuno Sakura, Charu Inoue, and familiar faces such as Umakoya Yamaguchi and Norimasa Tomie. The series inherits the original film's universe, delivering a fresh jidaigeki experience filled with laughter and tears. It has also generated buzz for a cameo appearance by Naoto Takenaka and theme song by Crazy Ken Band. (Broadcast on BS-TBS starting Thursday, July 16, every Thursday at 11 PM, 6 episodes total)

The manga 'Shinpa Muyō no Suke: Gaiden' explores the protagonist's backstory not covered in the drama. The origin of how he came to be known as 'Shinpa Muyō no Suke' will be revealed in a two-part story (prequel and sequel), serialized in tandem with the drama's broadcast. Written and illustrated by Korisu under the supervision of Junichi Yasuda, this original story offers deeper insight and enhanced enjoyment of the drama series.
