SEMICON.TODAY Launches New Series Documenting the Lives of Legendary Figures Who Led the Semiconductor Industry
TMH, operator of the semiconductor-focused media platform SEMICON.TODAY, has launched a new series documenting the life stories of pioneers in the semiconductor industry.
TMH Inc. (Headquarters: Oita City, Oita Prefecture; hereinafter "the Company"), which operates the semiconductor-focused media platform "SEMICON.TODAY," is pleased to announce the launch of a new series titled "Silicon is My Life." This series aims to document and share the life stories and insights of the pioneers who propelled the Japanese semiconductor industry to the highest global standards.
The series features in-depth interviews with engineers and executives who supported the era when Japan reigned as the world leader in semiconductors, including individuals from the University of Tokyo, Toshiba, and Hitachi. We will meticulously record their life philosophies from childhood to the present, the reality of their successes and failures, and the pivotal moments of encounter and decision-making.
Background of the Project
The semiconductor industry is experiencing an intense global competition for talent due to the explosive growth of AI, electric vehicles, and data centers. Securing high-level talent is a critical issue directly linked to corporate competitiveness within Japan as well.
Meanwhile, as the generation that directly experienced the 1980s—when Japan held the majority of the global market share—continues to age, the primary information, insights, and on-site sensibilities of that era are rapidly being lost.
"Silicon is My Life" is a project specialized for the semiconductor industry, inspired by the value of document-style content that systematically records an individual's career and decision-making, such as the iconic "My Personal History" series in the Nikkei newspaper. While traditional series often feature leaders writing in their own words, this series adopts an interview format to visualize the background of decision-making and the process of career formation through the subject's own narrative, providing a concrete and immersive story.
Features of the Series
- Exclusive interviews with engineers and executives who supported the golden age of Japanese semiconductors, including those from the University of Tokyo, Toshiba, and Hitachi.
- A life-story format that delves into childhood experiences, encounters, successes, and failures.
- A hybrid format combining text articles and videos to reach a diverse audience.
- Deep content that can be read as industrial history, layering the evolution of semiconductor technology with individual paths.
- Serves as a career role model for young engineers, next-generation researchers, and professionals from other industries.
