BUB Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Keiki Umezawa), which develops the sports beauty brand "ONE BREATH," held a lecture for students of the Obirin University Volleyball Club on the theme of "Career Issues for University Athletes and New Options."

Many students involved in university sports, while dedicating their days to their respective disciplines, face career challenges such as what possibilities lie beyond their athletic careers and how to leverage their sports experience in society.

This lecture touched upon the real situations of current student athletes and introduced the value of sports experience, its connection to society, and the emerging field of "sports x beauty" as a new market.

Career Challenges in University Sports

University sports, along with improvements in competitive levels, often involve extensive practice hours and activity volumes, leading to many cases where a significant portion of student life is dedicated to their sport.

From morning practices and evening team sessions to matches and away games, many students are intensely focused on their sport within an environment that prioritizes athletic pursuits.

However, on the other hand,

When it comes time for job hunting,

- How to leverage sports experience in society

- How to articulate a student life centered around sports

- How to think about a career after retirement

Many students face such concerns.

The lecture addressed these "career issues in university sports," organizing the inherent value of sports experience itself and sharing how the abilities cultivated through competition can become strengths in society.

Sharing the Real Job Hunting Situation of Students

During this lecture, we also discussed the job hunting situation of student athletes and introduced the elements that companies expect from individuals with sports experience.

Elements that companies often value in individuals with sports experience include:

- Perseverance

- Goal achievement ability

- Understanding of team roles

- Experience overcoming difficulties

These are frequently cited, and the experiences gained through competition hold significant value in society. We conveyed that it is not just the athletic results but the experiences and attitudes acquired in the process that are evaluated in society, providing students with an opportunity to re-examine their own experiences.

Observing the Actual Competition Scene and Experiencing the Reality of Student Athletes

Prior to the lecture, we also had the opportunity to observe the practice session of the Obirin University Volleyball Club. In the gymnasium, we witnessed students earnestly chasing the ball and playing as a team, communicating with each other.
