Tanium Releases NEC Case Study

In its "2030 Mid-Term Management Plan," NEC has set "Empower Humanity" as its social value creation vision, aiming to deliver innovation and security to the world and realize a society where human potential can be fully realized. Cybersecurity is one of the crucial areas supporting this vision. Providing security services and solutions is a strength of NEC, and they also focus on security within their internal IT operations. Within this context, NEC identified the following three challenges:

- Accurately identifying vulnerabilities for security measures.

- Reducing the operational workload for on-site tasks such as patch deployment.

To address these challenges, NEC identified issues based on the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and implemented Tanium as the optimal solution for centralized management of all devices within the NEC Group. As a result of the implementation, thorough cyber hygiene was achieved, leading to the following benefits:

- Centralized management of 260,000 endpoints worldwide via Tanium Cloud.
- Rapid assessment of the status and vulnerabilities of all company PCs within 5 minutes.
- Significant reduction in the time required for patch deployment.
- Reduction of the workload for on-site personnel to less than 1/15th.
- Reduction of the time from vulnerability detection to response instruction by 7 times through integration with ServiceNow.
