Unmanaged Bamboo Forests Become Delicious "Hama no Menma"! [~Beautiful Mountains for the Next 100 Years~Yokohama Bamboo Project]

■April 8 (Wed) - April 21 (Tue)

■B1F/B2F Foodies’ Port 1 & 2 / 8F Restaurant Street Rose Dining

Bamboo has long been an indispensable part of Japanese life as a living resource. However, since around the 1960s, factors such as the widespread availability of inexpensive bamboo shoots, the diversification of plastic products reducing demand, and the lack of bamboo forest management due to an aging population have led to "unmanaged bamboo forests (bamboo damage)" becoming a serious social issue.

To address this issue, we are collaborating with the local Yokohama organization [Yokohama Bamboo Research Institute], which is part of the "Purely Domestic Menma Project" aiming to solve the problem by "maintaining bamboo forests through delicious eating." We will be selling "Hama no Menma" made from "Takenoko" (young bamboo shoots) harvested from bamboo forests in Yokohama City, as well as limited-time products and menus using it.

[Yokohama Bamboo Research Institute]

This organization was established with the vision of "connecting people, regions, and smiles by utilizing Yokohama's bamboo forests" to address social issues such as bamboo damage and the weakening of human connections due to declining birthrates, aging population, and nuclear families.
