[Kyoto Tachibana University] Certified for MEXT's 'Mathematical, Data Science, and AI Education Program' at the Applied Basic Level+, One of Only Four Private Universities Nationwide and the Sole One in Kansai.

Kyoto Tachibana University (Yamashina-ku, Kyoto City; President: Tomohiro Okada) has received the 'Applied Basic Level+' certification under the 'Mathematical, Data Science, and AI Education Program Certification System' promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). This certification is awarded to universities and other institutions whose educational content related to mathematics, data science, and AI is systematically organized at a more practical and advanced level. Kyoto Tachibana University is one of only four private universities nationwide and the sole private university in the Kansai region to receive this certification.

In fiscal year 2022, the university launched its unique 'Tachibana AI & Data Science Program,' which allows students from all disciplines, both arts and sciences, to learn proactively according to their year of study and proficiency level. Taking advantage of its environment where 10 faculties and 18 departments—including engineering, humanities, international studies, education, social sciences, and medical care—are gathered on a single campus, the university implements cross-faculty education in mathematics, data science, and AI.

One of the core learning components is the 'Crossover-type Problem-Solving Project,' where students from different fields form teams to tackle themes presented by companies and government agencies. In this course, students work on challenges in multiple classes, conducting analyses and studies that involve data utilization tailored to the specific challenge and class characteristics. The program is open to students from all faculties and has so far involved collaborations with 32 businesses and government organizations.

The university's mathematics, data science, and AI education is not merely aimed at teaching numerical processing techniques, but is positioned as an opportunity to consider how AI and data science can be utilized in society and what kind of value they can create.

Going forward, the university will continue to enhance and develop its educational content, aiming to cultivate human resources capable of applying mathematics, data science, and AI to solve real-world problems through collaboration with local communities and industries.
