[SwitchBot] Over 90% of Dual-Income Households Experience 'Did I Lock the Door?' Anxiety, Survey on Household Chores and Home Operations Conducted

SWITCHBOT Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Connelly Lee), a company engaged in IoT and smart home business and recognized as the No.1 IoT device brand (as of April 2026, according to Kaden Biz research), conducted a survey on 'Household Chores and Home Operations' targeting 600 men and women in dual-income households aged 20s to 50s, ahead of June 9th 'Lock Day'.

In this survey, 'home operations' such as locking/unlocking doors, turning lights on/off, and operating remote controls—actions unconsciously repeated daily—were defined as 'finger-tip housework.' The results revealed that, while time-saving housework and convenient appliances are becoming more common, modern people perform many 'finger-tip housework' tasks daily, and the reality of confirmation stress related to the home, including 'Did I lock the door?' anxiety, was clarified.

Overall 'home operations' including locking/unlocking doors, turning lights on/off, and remote control operations reached an average of 19.5 times per day, revealing that modern people perform about 20 'finger-tip housework' tasks daily.

Regarding the burden of these home operations and checks, 49.2% answered that they 'feel it strongly' or 'feel it somewhat,' indicating about half of respondents feel burdened by 'home operations.'
