The "21st Suzuyo Group Cup Youth Kendo Tournament," sponsored by Suzuyo Group (organized by the Shizuoka City Kendo Federation), was held on May 5th (Tuesday, Children's Day) at the Shizuoka City Hokubu Gymnasium.

This tournament has been held annually since 2006, with the exception of 2020 when it was cancelled due to the impact of the new coronavirus infection. It is a popular event for local elementary and junior high school students to demonstrate the results of their daily training, serving as an opportunity for not only improving skills but also for character building through kendo, such as etiquette and caring for peers.

On the day of the event, approximately 460 elementary and junior high school students participated, and intense matches unfolded. The athletes praised each other's efforts, and the venue was filled with powerful yet warm cheers.

Since the 2nd tournament, group employees belonging to the kendo club have participated as volunteers, such as referees, to support the operation of the tournament.

Suzuyo Group values creating an environment where local children can grow up healthy and challenge themselves to pursue their dreams. Moving forward, through their sponsorship and operational support for this tournament, they will continue to contribute to the promotion of sports for the next generation of children.
