We endorse April Dream, an initiative aiming to share dreams on April 1st. This press release represents the dream of "Support Stakes."
Through "Yorisoi Musubi Care", a non-insured service providing outing support, monitoring, and information sharing by nurses to families, Support Stakes aims to eliminate all worries for families facing long-distance eldercare. This is our April Dream – a dream we are serious about achieving.
"I wonder if it's being conveyed properly" – The anxiety of adult children living apart
The number of adult children living apart from their elderly parents is increasing. Amidst days consumed by work and childcare, a fleeting anxiety arises.
"What did the doctor say at the last appointment?"
"My parent says 'I'm fine' on the phone, but are they really okay?"
"I want to accompany them, but it's practically impossible to return home many times."
These concerns are by no means uncommon.
Despite having ample care and concern for their parents, the physical barrier of distance prevents them from acting on it.
Adult children often feel not only anxiety but also guilt for "not being able to do anything."
What is Yorisoi Musubi Care? – A Service Where Nurses "Connect" the Individual and Their Family
"Yorisoi Musubi Care" is a non-insured (out-of-pocket) service where nurses accompany elderly individuals for medical appointments, provide outing support, and everyday monitoring, sharing the day's condition and doctor's explanations with family via LINE or phone.
The service name embodies our aspirations: to "stay close" to the elderly individual, their distant family, and the nurses providing care, thereby "connecting" the three. That is "Yorisoi Musubi Care.".
Because it's not bound by care insurance or medical insurance, we can flexibly respond to requests that fall through the cracks of the system, such as "I want someone to accompany me to visit my parents' graves" or "I need help organizing administrative procedures."
It's not merely accompaniment; by having nurses with a medical perspective, we can notice subtle changes in condition and suggest the next steps when necessary. This is a major characteristic of this service.
Realities of the First Year – What We Learned While Delivering the Service
After fully launching the service in September 2025, and gradually receiving requests, we experienced an event that strongly convinced us: "This service is indeed necessary.".
We received a request from a family living in another prefecture to accompany their parent, who lives in Fukuoka, to a medical examination.
The individual was in a situation where they could not accurately understand the doctor's explanation and convey it to their family.
Upon actually accompanying them to the examination, the individual had reported to their family, "The treatment is over," but in reality, continued medical attention was necessary, and there were changes to their medication. It was precisely because a nurse was present that accurate information could be conveyed to the family.
Had the nurse not been present, the next appointment might have been missed, and necessary treatment could have been interrupted. This experience strongly taught us that "Precisely because we are apart, someone is needed to stand in between and connect us correctly."
On the other hand, most people are still unaware of this service's existence.
We have received comments like, "I didn't know I could ask a nurse for help outside of insurance," and "I wish I had known sooner." It has not yet reached those who need it. This is our candid present situation.
Why "Nurses"? – Observational Skills and Translation Ability Create Family Peace of Mind
You might wonder, "Could a house helper or caregiver suffice for accompaniment?" However, there is a reason why we insist on a service provided by nurses.
One is "Observational Skill."
Facial color, breathing, gait, consistency of speech – with a perspective honed in medical settings, we do not miss even small changes in the individual's physical condition. "A slight difference from usual" can prevent a serious incident.
The other is "Translation Ability."
Doctor's explanations often contain specialized terminology and words concisely summarized within limited consultation time.
By having nurses translate this into "family language" and convey it in an easily understandable, organized manner, families can make decisions based on accurate information, even from a distance.
We believe this combination of "Observational Skill" and "Translation Ability" holds the power to fundamentally alleviate the anxieties of long-distance eldercare.
Another Dream – Creating New Ways of Working for Nurses
Yorisoi Musubi Care has another dream we want to fulfill.
That is to create a society where nurses can work more flexibly and true to themselves.
In medical settings, many nurses have to give up balancing work with childcare or family life due to night shifts, irregular schedules, and heavy workloads.
I myself, having worked in medical settings, have often heard nurses say, "I love nursing, but I can't continue under the current conditions."
Yorisoi Musubi Care is a service where schedules can be adjusted relatively flexibly. As the number of families using this service increases, so will the opportunities for nurses to work.
If an environment is established where nurses can work at their own pace, they will be able to support more families.
As users increase, nurses' options expand, and as nurses increase, more families can be supported – this virtuous cycle is the future we envision.
Our April Dream
"A society where parents can be assured of care, even when apart."
"A society where nurses can help others in their own way."
To achieve these two goals simultaneously. That is the dream of us at Support Stakes.
We are still a small entity. Currently, we provide services mainly in Fukuoka City, and our service area is limited.
However, the dream we shared last April Dream has certainly taken a step forward in the past year.
This year, we aim to establish a firm base in Fukuoka and deliver "Yorisoi Musubi Care" to as many people as possible. Furthermore, we aspire to expand our service area and create a society where everyone can watch over their parents with peace of mind, regardless of distance.
To make this dream come true, we continue to move forward one step at a time every day.
We Want to Reach Those Who Think "Care is Still Far Off"
Yorisoi Musubi Care is not just for those whose caregiving has already begun.
"I'm recently a bit concerned about my parent's forgetfulness."
"I want to accompany them to the doctor, but it's difficult due to the distance." -- You can consult with us starting from such "early stages of concern.".
By registering as a LINE friend, we will present you with the "Preparation Book for Parent's Care."
Simply having the information can change the sense of security when the time comes.
"I can't accompany them to the next appointment," or "I want to know how my parent is doing," – please feel free to consult us.
After understanding your situation, we will guide you through the support details and the consultation process.
