Pink Lady, the monster unit that remains in the history of Japanese popular music, will celebrate their 50th anniversary on August 25, 2026. A tribute concert will be held at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA in Tokyo on that day, followed by the release of a tribute album on August 26. Pink Lady, who created a social phenomenon with numerous hits written by lyricist Yu Aku and composer Shunichi Tokura, revolutionized the industry with their bold choreography and intense beats, introducing the concept of 'singing and dancing' idols. At the time, young girls were captivated by them, mimicking their dance moves in a way that would be called 'going viral' today. They were the first female idol unit that girls aspired to be, marking an epoch-making presence that serves as the origin of modern idol culture. The '50th Anniversary Tribute Project: Pink Lady Legend, Now and Forever' aims to pass these hit songs down to future generations. The concert will feature performances by AKASAKI, Sae Arai & Momoka Ito (AKB48), Airi Suzuki, Meimi Tamura, Yo Hitoto, Kanako Momota (Momoiro Clover Z), and Chisato Moritaka & Maki Watase (LINDBERG), with Takashi Fujii serving as MC. Both Mie and Keiko Masuda have shared comments expressing their gratitude for the 50-year journey and their excitement for the new interpretations of their music.
