As Taiwan faces the dual challenges of an aging population and industrial labor shortages, retaining skilled middle-aged and older workers has become a top priority for businesses. The Taoyuan-Chuhuo-Miaoli Branch of the Ministry of Labor's Workforce Development Agency will host a 'Practical Case Seminar on Prioritizing Work Method Adjustments and Work Condition Improvements' on August 11, 2026, at the Silver-Haired Talent Resource Center in Zhubei City, Hsinchu County. The event will showcase how adjusting workflows, work hours, and introducing assistive tools can reduce occupational injuries and significantly boost productivity.
The seminar will feature real-world insights from leading local enterprises on how they successfully retained talent through 'work method adjustments' and 'work condition improvements' without major investments. GlobalWafers Co., Ltd. (Zhongde Branch) will share how they conducted precise 'employee health and workload assessments' and promoted automation for high-risk tasks. Shuo-Yang Motor Co., Ltd. will explain how 'flexible working hours' and 'workplace adjustments' enable senior employees to maintain stable output within their physical limits. Ying-Ming-De Food Industry Co., Ltd. will present how friendly job redesign measures in traditional manufacturing and food industries have reduced employee burden and technician turnover.
On-site group discussions will be held for different industries and specific work scenarios, with experts guiding companies on how to immediately assess the fit between employees and their jobs and take away practical improvement action guides.
The 'Job Redesign' program offers subsidies of up to NT$100,000 per person annually. Taoyuan-Chuhuo-Miaoli Branch Director Lai Chia-jen emphasized that middle-aged and older workers are the backbone of a stable labor market. The Ministry of Labor's 'Job Redesign Service Program' aims to help companies make 'micro-adjustments' instead of 'complete overhauls,' providing substantial support in four areas: 'improving workplace environment and equipment,' 'improving work conditions,' 'providing employment assistive tools,' and 'adjusting work methods.' The government offers up to NT$100,000 annually per approved case to alleviate companies' financial burden for workplace improvements, jointly building an age-inclusive workplace.
Companies interested in assessing the needs of their middle-aged employees and securing government subsidies are strongly encouraged to attend the 'Practical Case Seminar on Prioritizing Work Method Adjustments and Work Condition Improvements' on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Silver-Haired Talent Resource Center (No. 18, Xianzheng 6th Road, Zhubei City, Hsinchu County). Registration is open until 12:00 PM on July 24 (registration URL: https://reurl.cc/Q21dr2), with limited spots available and early closure once full.
