Announcement of STEAM JAPAN AWARD 2026 Winning Projects

This award, now in its 6th year (Organized by: STEAM JAPAN AWARD Executive Committee / Sponsored by: The Nissan Foundation / Supported by: Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology), received numerous applications from across Japan and overseas. Many ambitious projects tackling social issues were submitted. Following a rigorous selection process, the winners have now been decided. Judging Criteria This award was evaluated comprehensively based on the following three points:

Message from Special Juror Haruyoshi Kumura, Chairman of The Nissan Foundation "I felt that there were more good initiatives in last year's projects, but this year too, we saw many excellent works with interesting themes that accurately capture social issues, and good perspectives on the application of technology. I also believe that more presentation materials are being compiled in a way that aligns with the interests of the readers."

"This year's STEAM JAPAN AWARD 2026 received more applications than ever before from all over the country. I am deeply grateful. Among this year's submitted projects, many showed a natural connection between their own curiosity and interests and social/regional issues, going beyond mere ideas to include prototyping, verification, and even social implementation, which was very encouraging. All the projects, not just the award winners, were truly wonderful, even those that unfortunately did not receive an award. Each project conveyed the participants' sincere approach to challenges, their self-thinking, and their proactive attitude. "We will create our own future."
