System Research Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture), which operates "Creative Works Mall Alulu" (hereinafter, Alulu Mall), conducted a survey on "Daughter-in-Law and Mother's Day" targeting women aged 50-60 nationwide whose sons are married.
The results showed that 57.0% of respondents answered "happy" when receiving a Mother's Day gift. However, the most common honest answer was "don't particularly expect anything" at 35.5%.
This seemingly contradictory sentiment of "happy, but don't expect" suggests a consideration to "not want to make the other person feel obligated."
Furthermore, 42.0% of respondents answered that they "receive gifts every year" from their daughters-in-law on Mother's Day.
"Occasionally" accounted for 22.0%, meaning a total of 64.0% have received gifts, while
36.0% answered "never received." This indicates that Mother's Day interactions are not uniform.
