Yoshifumi Sakamoto Appointed Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of SpaceBlast

SpaceBlast, Inc. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Shingo Horiguchi), which develops consulting, new business creation support, and media businesses in the space and digital domains, announced that Yoshifumi Sakamoto will assume the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) starting April 1st.

In January 2026, our company was selected as an implementing organization for the technology development theme "Orbital Data Center Construction Technology" under the JAXA Space Strategic Fund Program (Phase II for Exploration, etc.). As the research representative for this project, Mr. Sakamoto will henceforth promote our "Space Cloud" business, including the development of fundamental technologies for orbital data center construction.

**■ Profile of New CTO Yoshifumi Sakamoto** As a consultant and Chief Technology Officer in the edge computing domain at a foreign IT company, he consistently led basic research utilizing advanced technologies, as well as the commercialization of services and products. He has served as a development architect and program manager for personal computers, embedded systems, and large-scale semiconductors. In 2014, he obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Graduate School of Information Science and Electrical Engineering at Kyushu University. He is also a specially appointed professor at Keio University Graduate School of System Design and Management (SDM). He joined SpaceBlast, Inc. and DigitalBlast, Inc. in fiscal year 2025 and will assume the position of CTO (Chief Technology Officer) in April 2026.

**■ (Reference) About Orbital Data Centers** Given the rapid increase in data processing on orbit in the future, the construction of orbital data centers capable of processing data in orbit is globally urgent. This requires development elements such as highly reliable edge computing functions that operate stably in space, heat dissipation functions that operate in an environment different from Earth, and optical communication systems capable of transmitting large volumes of data. In the future, the technology of orbital data centers is expected to be applied to data processing for activities on the lunar surface.
