SkyDrive Inc. (Headquarters: Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture; CEO: Tomohiro Fukuzawa; hereinafter "SkyDrive"), which develops, manufactures, and sells "flying cars" (*1), announced that Motohisa Imamura, who has cultivated manufacturing expertise at Suzuki Motor Corporation (hereinafter "Suzuki") through his involvement in the production of prototypes and prototype vehicles for four-wheelers, two-wheelers, and outboard motors in the prototype division, has been appointed as the Representative Director and President of its manufacturing subsidiary, Sky Works Inc. (Headquarters: Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture; hereinafter "Sky Works"), effective April 1, 2026.
Background of Appointment To stably manufacture safe and high-quality flying car aircraft globally, SkyDrive concluded a business and technology collaboration agreement with Suzuki in March 2022. In June 2023, Sky Works, a subsidiary for manufacturing flying cars, was established, and manufacturing commenced in March 2024, utilizing a Suzuki Group factory in Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Furthermore, collaboration has been strengthened for domestic and international expansion, including investment, support for business development in India, and the appointment of Mr. Naoki Ishii, Suzuki's Representative Director and Vice President, as an outside director (*2).
Until now, Sky Works has been advancing the manufacturing of prototype flying cars, primarily led by Mr. Imamura, who was invited from Suzuki as an assistant to the president. This appointment of Mr. Imamura, who has consistently been involved in manufacturing, as Representative Director and President is aimed at building a mass production system for commercialization in 2028. This will allow Suzuki's world-class advanced manufacturing know-how and organizational management expertise, cultivated over many years, to be more directly reflected in the manufacturing of flying car aircraft, accelerating the optimization of manufacturing sites and the creation of a next-generation organization.
Nobuo Kishi, the former Representative Director and President of Sky Works, has been appointed as a Director and will focus on certification and safety strategies for obtaining Type Certification (TC) for the entire group, as well as leading global expansion, thereby driving business growth as a key figure in aircraft development.
