Overview of this announcement

Singapore Airlines and Air China aim to provide greater value and choices to customers by coordinating flight schedules and fare setting, expanding codeshare flights, and enhancing mileage program benefits.

Closer cooperation between the two companies will enhance convenience between Singapore and China, revitalize the tourism industry, and promote business and people-to-people exchanges.

Singapore Airlines (Headquarters: Singapore, CEO: Goh Choon Phong) and Air China (Headquarters: Beijing, President: Qu Guangji) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a commercial joint venture partnership. This will allow the two companies to deepen their cooperation and offer customers more travel options, flexibility, greater value, and additional benefits.

The agreement includes the possibility of expanding codeshare partnerships[1] on flights between Singapore and mainland China, within China, and to further destinations beyond both countries. The two companies plan to proceed with coordinating flight schedules, considering joint fare products, and arrangements for joint marketing and revenue sharing. All initiatives are subject to regulatory approval.

Building on their long-standing relationship as members of Star Alliance, the two airlines also plan to strengthen the partnership between Singapore Airlines' KrisFlyer and Air China's PhoenixMiles mileage programs. This will provide members with more opportunities to earn and redeem miles on both airlines, allowing them to enjoy more comprehensive benefits.

The two companies also aim to share best practices and success stories in areas such as ground handling, catering, and in-flight services.

Air China President Qu Guangji stated:

"As members of Star Alliance, Singapore Airlines and Air China have built a strong foundation of cooperation over many years. We will further deepen the partnership between our two companies, expand the scope of our codeshare cooperation, enhance the synergy of our mileage programs, and vigorously promote our joint venture initiatives. By continuously delivering diverse travel products and premium services, we will continue to provide greater convenience and more travel options to customers using the air routes between China and Singapore."

Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong stated:

"Singapore Airlines is delighted to embark on a strategic business partnership with Air China, which operates an extensive domestic and international network from its hubs in China. Through our mutual cooperation, we will offer customers more travel options, seamless connections, and enhanced convenience on flights between Singapore and China, as well as on routes combining both our networks. Closer cooperation in services and mileage programs will further enhance the travel experience and create significant value for our customers. Furthermore, this partnership will support the development of tourism, business, and cultural exchange, strengthen economic and human ties, and foster deeper relations and new opportunities between Singapore and China."
