Shuto-ken Logistics Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Representative Director: Tomoaki Komagata) will open a new logistics base, the "Aomori Center," in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, to strengthen its logistics system connecting the Tohoku and Hokkaido areas. Operations will commence on April 1, 2026. The establishment of this base will enable Shuto-ken Logistics to optimize transportation costs, shorten lead times, and build a stable supply system for its client companies.
In recent years, the logistics industry has seen a growing need for stable supply systems (BCP) that account for increased costs associated with long-distance transportation, improvements in driver working conditions, and risks from natural disasters such as typhoons and heavy snow. Previously, collection and delivery in the northern Tohoku area were handled by the Morioka Center in Iwate Prefecture. However, due to the long operating distances and severe weather conditions in winter, further efficiency improvements and stable operations were required.
Addressing these challenges, Shuto-ken Logistics will optimize its transportation system by establishing a new base in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, a key point on the logistics route connecting Tohoku and Hokkaido.
The objectives for opening the Aomori Center are as follows: 1. Optimization of Transportation Costs and Lead Times By establishing a base at the junction connecting Tohoku and Hokkaido, the operating distance will be shortened. This will simultaneously achieve a reduction in transportation costs and stabilization of lead times.
2. Ensuring Stable Transportation Quality By covering transportation to the northern Tohoku area with two bases, the existing Morioka Center and the newly opened Aomori Center, driver working hours will be reduced, eliminating unreasonable and inefficient operations, and establishing a sustainable and high-quality transportation system.
3. Strengthening Regional Delivery Capabilities By establishing a base within Aomori Prefecture, more flexible and detailed delivery services can be provided to areas within Aomori Prefecture and its border regions.
4. Improvement of BCP Response Capabilities (Heavy Snow Countermeasures) By dividing the supply to the northern Tohoku area between two bases, the transportation range will be reduced, thereby lowering the risk of supply disruptions during disasters or severe weather.
Starting from this base, Shuto-ken Logistics will further strengthen its logistics network in the Tohoku and Hokkaido areas and promote initiatives towards realizing "uninterrupted logistics." Moving forward, the company will continue to work on improving transportation quality and building a sustainable logistics system as a strategic partner supporting the business growth of its client companies.
