Chronoscript: The Endless End to Release in Fall 2026! Prologue Trailer Revealed at Future Games Show

Shueisha Games Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; hereafter Shueisha Games) is pleased to announce that the release period for the exploratory action-adventure game 'Chronoscript: The Endless End' (developed by DeskWorks Inc.) has been set to fall 2026.

At the same time, during the game showcase 'Future Games Show', a prologue trailer was released that reveals the long-mysterious writer and the protagonist editor's 3D character designs, as well as a new 'Ancient Egypt' stage for the first time.

Furthermore, it was announced that Mari Shimazaki is in charge of 3D character design, Yasunori Mitsuda and members of Procyon Studio are handling music and sound effects, and guest composer Aimi Kiyota is also participating.

What is 'Chronoscript: The Endless End'?

Put an end to the thousand-year-long 'story of the endless end'.

'Chronoscript: The Endless End' is an exploratory action-adventure game where you, as an editor trapped in a manuscript, unravel the thousand-year-long 'story of the endless end'.

The goal is to bring the story unfolding in two dimensions—the 2D space drawn on manuscript paper and the 3D space of the mansion interior—to a conclusion.

Prologue

The year is 2026 AD. An editor who has just finished a long-running series receives a strange editing request. He visits a mansion deep in the mountains where the client awaits, but after being bitten by a mosquito, he loses consciousness. When he awakens, he finds himself inside the manuscript of the mansion's master, a thousand-year-old vampire, titled 'The Story of the Endless End'.

【Explore Different Eras within the Manuscript】 Inside the manuscript, stories that the vampire writer has penned across a thousand years in various lands unfold.

【Meticulous Artwork】 The protagonist, enemies, and backgrounds are all hand-drawn in pen, and the animation is created frame by frame, evoking a unique eerie and lively atmosphere.

Characters

Vampire: Viola S. Chambers A writer burdened with the curse of immortality, who has been weaving the 'story of the endless end' for a thousand years. After traversing numerous eras and lands, she lost sight of the end of the stories she accumulated, and clinging to an ancient oath, she requests an editor from a certain family's descendant.

Editor: Frederick G. Muller A taciturn editor who has led many stories to their conclusion. After accepting the request and visiting a remote mansion, he becomes trapped within a thousand-year-long story. While confronting the confused words within the manuscript and the writer's anguish and solitude, he reads deeper into the pages to put an end to the 'story of the endless end'.

Comment from Mari Shimazaki: "I am truly honored to be invited to work on such a wonderful project filled with strong passion. To live up to the enthusiasm of the 2D works, I took charge of 3D character design and direction of character modeling. Together with sculptor Hiroaki Nakanishi and modeler Rokko Shinkai, we teamed up with B-Tribe to participate in production. Both the 'Editor' and the 'Vampire' are distinctive characters showcasing DeskWorks' meticulous attention, adding hues of obsession and affection to the world. We aimed to balance the original 2D design and its relationship with the game, designing and modeling with a strong awareness of character identity rather than mere realism. We incorporated designs and forms that reveal each character's true nature—the editor's neurotic atmosphere and the vampire's not just scary but occasionally cute side. I hope players will feel a fond obsession from the 3D characters as they enjoy the game. Please look forward to the release."

Comment from Yasunori Mitsuda: "Since the late 2000s, hit titles in the 'Metroidvania' genre gradually emerged in the indie scene. I have been a heavy user of this genre myself, playing many works indiscriminately. I was strongly attracted to the feeling of growing while exploring vast maps and especially the impressive music, and I came to hope that one day I would be involved in a Metroidvania title with a solid worldview. Then, I was invited to work on 'Chronoscript: The Endless End'. Initially, it was difficult to participate due to scheduling, but after adjustments, I was able to join. This title features distinctive visuals and meticulously crafted gimmicks. It was a very enjoyable time planning how to create music that complements its unique worldview. In addition to myself, the music includes contributions from Shunsuke Tsuchiya and Mariam Abonnasr of Procyon Studio, and guest composer Aimi Kiyota. I feel that the four of us have created songs that reflect each of our individualities. I hope that as the map changes, players will find new discoveries and excitement in the music."
