New Balance Japan, headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, and led by Representative Director and President Shinichi Kubota, has unveiled the "ABZORB 2010" model. This sneaker is a collaborative design with the streetwear brand Liberaiders and the sneaker boutique UNIK. Sales are scheduled to commence on April 22nd (Wednesday) through the New Balance official online store, New Balance Harajuku, New Balance Shinsaibashi, Liberaiders official online store, and other selected retailers. The design draws inspiration from New Balance's retro running shoe silhouettes, featuring a dark gray suede and mesh base, accented with royal blue panels and a distinctive pink-to-purple gradient on the tongue. The shoe integrates ABZORB cushioning technology in the midsole, paired with a vintage-style off-white sole, ensuring comfort and stable cushioning. The article also provides background on the collaborating brands: Liberaiders, founded in 2017 by Beijing-born creator Mei Yong, focuses on "freedom" and "exploration" with an oriental aesthetic. UNIK, a long-standing supporter of Chinese street culture, first retailed New Balance shoes in Dalian, China, in 2008. New Balance, established in 1906 in Boston, Massachusetts, employs 14,000 people globally and reported $9.2 billion in worldwide sales in 2025. The company operates five athletic footwear factories in New England, USA, and one in Flimby, UK, with its MADE in U.S.A. footwear containing over 70% domestic content.
