Movie "The Rental Magician" 7/13 (Mon) Blu-ray & DVD Release Commemorative Talk Event Announced!

The non-fiction book series "Jikobukken Kaitan: Khowai Mazuri" by comedian Tanishi Matsubara, who continues to live in haunted rental properties, is adapted into a live-action film by Hideo Nakata, director of "Ring"!

A talk event commemorating the Blu-ray & DVD release of the highly discussed film "The Rental Magician" will be held on

July 13, 2026 (Mon) at LOFT9 Shibuya!

Featuring Director Hideo Nakata, Original Author Tanishi Matsubara, and Horror & Fantasy Writer/Critic Unga Asamiya.

From "Ring" to "The Rental Magician"— Where does Japanese horror come from, and where is it headed? Director Hideo Nakata, author Tanishi Matsubara, and writer Unga Asamiya will freely discuss the present and future of horror, using the making of "The Rental Magician" as a starting point.

An autograph session will also be held for those who purchase the Blu-ray & DVD or bring their purchased copies! Additionally, a Q&A corner for the guests is planned!
