In China, due to the real estate slump, there are many ruined apartments called 'Lanweidong'. The story begins when architect Kō Kanokawa receives a request from a mysterious Chinese woman, Q, to turn a Lanweidong into an art museum, and his assistant, Ren, crosses over to the mainland. Amidst a construction site where capital and desires are laid bare, Ren is tossed about by the deep chaos of the mainland.

Akutagawa Prize nominee 'Danshin', published in the April issue of 'Shincho'. The standalone book 'Danshin / Magokoro' is scheduled for release on July 15th.

'I have written everything I can write right now.' - Author Ren Nishina

The standalone book 'Danshin / Magokoro', scheduled for release on July 15th, is a retitled version of 'Danshin (Magokoro)' published in the April 2026 issue of 'Shincho', which was nominated for the Akutagawa Prize. A Creole-like author who freely commands three languages approaches the reality of China with fresh sensitivity against the backdrop of rising tensions and a rightward shift in Sino-Japanese relations. A large-scale masterpiece!
