Shangri-La Tokyo Launches 'Tropical Summer Festival Afternoon Tea' Starting July 1st

Shangri-La Tokyo (General Manager: Matthias Sutter) is pleased to announce the 'Tropical Summer Festival Afternoon Tea,' available at The Lobby Lounge from July 1st (Wed) to September 15th (Tue). This limited-time summer afternoon tea incorporates seasonal fruits such as mango and passion fruit into the lively atmosphere of a Japanese summer festival. We invite you to spend a special time in the heart of the city, feeling the breeze of a summer evening with motifs reminiscent of a traditional fair.

The sweets selection features five items inspired by the summer festival. 'Chocolate Banana' is an arrangement of the familiar street food menu into a cake with a richer flavor than a real banana. 'Passion Fruit Raw Donut' has a playful visual reminiscent of takoyaki, with chocolate caramel sauce as takoyaki sauce, pistachio as green laver, and shaved goji berries as pickled ginger. The passion fruit cream hidden inside provides a refreshing finish. 'Orange and Pistachio Cassata Sandwich' is a summery cookie sandwich featuring pistachio-infused cheese cream accented with the concentrated acidity of dried orange. 'Chocolate Mint Mousse' is an impressive item with a vivid appearance modeled after a water balloon. It combines mint-scented mousse with chocolate brownie for a refreshing taste. We also offer 'Mango Almond Tofu,' a visually cool glass dessert inspired by goldfish scooping. Smooth almond tofu is layered with mango and exotic fruits, topped with blue curacao jelly. The goldfish-shaped chocolate swimming in the jelly serves as a subtle accent, while the crispy coconut tuile on top adds a change in texture.

For savory items, we have prepared five dishes ranging from summery cold menus to items reminiscent of a fair. 'Chicken Consommé Jelly and Vichyssoise with Edamame, Styled as Beer' is a dish that looks just like real beer, with creamy potato potage poured over chicken consommé jelly. Served with edamame, it evokes a moment of toast. 'Grilled Corn Quiche with Coconut Flavor' is baked香ばしく using a dough made with coconut milk and corn puree, sprinkled with soy sauce powder. You can enjoy the sweet and salty taste of grilled corn, a favorite at street stalls. 'Pork and Pineapple Corn Dog' is a dish where juicy pork and sweet-and-sour pineapple are wrapped in a slightly sweet pancake dough and fried. It is a perfect taste for summer, with a spread of sweet-and-sour and meaty umami. 'Watermelon Gazpacho with Chia Seeds' is a cold soup that allows you to enjoy the freshness of watermelon. You can also enjoy the texture of chia seeds. 'Shrimp Cutlet Mini Burger' features a flavorful shrimp cutlet sandwiched in a small bun, decorated with a small parasol to boost the festival mood.

There are three types of scones: the classic, 'Tomato Cheese,' and 'Grilled Corn.' 'Tomato Cheese' is a meal-like scone where you can enjoy the acidity of tomatoes and the richness of cheese. 'Grilled Corn' is kneaded with corn roasted in soy sauce and mirin, and finished with corn powder. Condiments include clotted cream, cheese basil spread, and a choice of four types of jam or honey.

For the 'Pass-Around' service, which offers unlimited refills, we introduce 'White Peach Cookie Cream Puff' using seasonal white peaches. The gentle sweetness of the peach spreads throughout your mouth.
