(hereinafter: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) in the in-house development of internal systems utilizing AWS and generative AI.

Background of the Implementation

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, with its broad business domains and numerous business divisions, aimed to effectively utilize limited IT personnel and promote system development across the organization.

Furthermore, they had a need to centrally manage the knowledge accumulated from customer inquiries and resolve the issue of knowledge being confined to specific individuals.

Additionally, in the utilization of generative AI, there was a desire to prevent individual optimization in each business division and to safely deploy it company-wide while maintaining control over security and operational rules.

To realize these concepts through in-house development, Serverworks, with its track record of development in AWS environments, was selected as the technical support partner to supplement expertise in infrastructure and backend domains.

Overview of Initiatives

Serverworks provided expertise in infrastructure, backend, and AI, and provided technical support for the in-house development of the following two systems:

Ticket Management System

A system was built on AWS for business divisions to centrally manage customer inquiries and work requests. Serverworks provided technical support in the backend domain and development assistance through mob programming.

Company-wide AI Workspace

An AI workspace common to the entire company was developed to enable searching internal knowledge and summarizing documents using generative AI. Various AWS services for building and expanding generative AI applications were adopted for the system infrastructure.

Implementation Results

Centralized inquiry management by building a ticket management system on AWS

A ticket management system targeting one business division was released, achieving "improved operational efficiency through centralized inquiry management." Development is currently underway on a highly versatile system that can be deployed to other business divisions.

Developed a company-wide AI workspace utilizing RAG, providing functions such as knowledge search

A pilot release to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries employees in April 2026 saw over 2,000 active users and 15,000 chat usage instances in just two weeks, with inquiries for adoption already received from over 20 business divisions.

Acquired the latest knowledge regarding AWS and generative AI

Through Serverworks' development support, the maturity of in-house development has improved, leading to the realization of higher-quality system development and shorter development times.

Future Outlook

Leveraging the knowledge gained from in-house development support using AWS and generative AI through this case study, Serverworks will continue to provide technical support for the digital transformation (DX) of many companies.
